Annual Events

Below are just a few of the many activities for Youth that occur annually at Ox Hill Baptist Church and we encourage you to get involved.  For more information, please contact our Youth Coordinator, John Majette.

Parents Night Out
Ox Hill’s CrossWalk ministry hosts Parent's Night Out (PNO) events on Friday evenings from 6:30 – 9:30 PM about once a quarter. The cost is free, however, we encourage our participants to help support our youth via our Rent-a-Teen program. Youth will help the children participate in various bible related activities and crafts while they are here. PNO provides an opportunity for parents to get some much needed quiet time, for our youth an opportunity to minister to children, and a safe environment for children to learn about God's love.

Middle School Madness
As a way to smooth the transition from the Children's Ministry to Youth Ministry, CrossWalk sponsors quarterly fellowships called "Middle-School Madness."  These events are geared towards students in Grades 6-8 and give our soon-to-be-rising 7th Graders a taste of our youth ministry programs.  Middle School Madness events are always fun, exciting, and can even get messy. For more information about our next Middle School Madness event, please contact John Majette.

Junior High Retreat
Our Junior High Retreat is our annual retreat, usually in the Fall, open to students in grades 6-8.  With students in the early stages of youth ministry, we enjoy joining up with other churches at some of our regional retreat locations within the area. This allows our students to meet fellow Christians while helping them navigate and continue to develop in their Christian walk.

Senior High Retreat
Our Senior High Retreat is our annual retreat, usually in the Spring, open to students in grades 9-12.  This retreat is a great opportunity for our students to step away from their action-packed lives and really take time to focus on getting closer to Christ.  This retreat is usually tailored to meet the needs and desires facing our students today, helping prepare them for life beyond the youth ministry.

Winter Retreat
This is a special overnight retreat typically occurring around New Years open to all Youth in Grades 6-12. It is a great opportunity to begin the new year focused on our engaging and growing our spiritual life. Past Winter retreats have included visiting Sight & Sound Theatre Company of Lancaster, PA and attending Liberty University's WinterFest. Please contact John Majette. for more information!

Centrifuge is an amazing weeklong Christian experience for our students in grades 7 through 12. CrossWalk Youth attended Fuge 2016 at North Greenville University in Greenville, SC. In addition to powerful worship every morning and evening, your students will experience small-group Bible study and team-building recreation led by highly trained FUGE staffers. Afternoon track times give everyone the opportunity to participate in a favorite activity or learn something new. A Parent/Youth information meeting is typically held in early January.

Music and Worship Camp
Music and Worship Camp is a week-long camp, typically held the third week in July, devoted to helping students in Grades 4-12 learn how to praise and worship God through music and missions. Music Camp is held at Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center near Lynchburg, VA and includes fellowship, small group seminars and group worship. For more information about Music Camp, please contact our Minister of Music, Paul Brill.

Mission Trips
There are several opportunities each year for Youth to participate in week-long mission trips. These can include Impact Virginia, a week-long construction missions initiative for teenagers; World Changers, is a week-long missions experience for Christian youth and adults designed to meet the physical and spiritual needs of others; and Ox Hill's church-wide mission trip, which is typically a week-long trip to a location which is decided upon by the congregation. In 2014, Ox Hill members travelled to Guatemala to work with the Potter's House, an organization that builds homes for the homeless and marginalized. Members also held a Vacation Bible School for the children in the area. For more information about mission trips, please contact John Majette.
