ABOUT US
Ox Hill Baptist Church exists to make a world of difference by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with each other, with our community and beyond. We are traditionally Baptist in worship, shared values, congregational governance and missionary spirit.

Believing that Baptists can do more working together than we can alone, we share cooperative ministries with the NorthStar Network of Baptist Churches in the Northern Virginia area, the Baptist General Association of Virginia, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist World Alliance.

OUR VALUES
The values members of Ox Hill share are:

  • A shared faith in Christ Jesus as the Lord of life.
  • The Bible as the ultimate guide to Christian belief and conduct.
  • The practice of believer’s baptism by immersion for new Christians
  • A fellowship of care, cooperation and respect.
  • The discovery of God’s will and direction for the church through congregational decision-making.
  • Christ’s love through benevolence and missions.
  • Freedom of Religion

OUR HISTORY
Founded as a mission of First Baptist Herndon, Virginia in 1958, Ox Hill was constituted as a Baptist church in 1968. The congregation occupied the main church building in 1970. An education wing was added in 1988. In 2007 the church completed the first phase of a four phase expansion plan with the construction of additional parking spaces between the church building and Route 50. The other three phases include added educational space with a fellowship hall/gym and more classroom space, an administrative wing, and a larger sanctuary.

As the community has grown and transitioned from farming to urban, the congregation has grown in membership, ministry programs, missions and community involvement. The church is particularly well known for the quality of its Music Ministry and its ministries to youth, children and senior adults. Two of its newest ministries include a ministry to women and English as a Second Language.

The church has been recognized by the Baptist General Association of Virginia and the Chantilly community as a dynamic congregation serving all ages. Church members serve in a variety of ways including conducting weekly worship services and Bible study at the Fairfax Adult Detention Center, establishing and supporting Western Fairfax Christian Ministries, offering instruction in English as Second Language and a widely recognized Mother’s Day Out ministry.

In addition, adults and youth from the congregation regularly participate in mission trips including Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together and Impact Virginia. The church recently simultaneously renovated a church building and conducted a Vacation Bible School in New Orleans damaged by hurricane Katrina.
