Remembering Randy
His Life & Legacy
On July 26, 2025, Ralph Andrew Owens, Jr, (Randy) was called home by his Lord and Savior at the age of 72.
Randy was born on September 28, 1952, in Arlington, Virginia, the son of Delores and Ralph A. Owens, Sr. Randy was the second born of four siblings. He graduated from Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida, where he met his wife, Kathy Corn Owens, in the marching band. Randy was the head drummer, and could make her heart beat a little faster!
A devoted follower of Christ, Randy lived his life with faith, integrity, and dedication. He was a longtime member of Ox Hill Baptist Church and found joy and purpose in serving both his church family and his community through his faith. His string of perfect Sunday School attendance pins was incredibly long! Randy’s warm tenor voice could be heard singing in the Men’s Chorus or from the far right seat in the right back pew. He enjoyed playing handbells for over 30 years and loved that he still “had it” when playing timpani and percussion during Christmas cantatas. Whether he was building something with his hands, sharing an encouraging word to someone in need, or donating his resources, Randy’s actions reflected his deep belief in living a life modeled after his Savior, a life of service and love.
A talented carpenter since 1975, Randy took great pride in his craft. From creating houses and additions or finishing home renovations for others, to planning and building his family their home in Clifton, Virginia, his work was a labor of love — always thoughtful, sturdy, and made with care. His craftsmanship touched countless lives, including those he met on numerous mission trips.
He worked hard and played harder. Randy enjoyed playing sports and coaching, and more recently in life, cheering on his favorite MVP’s, his grandkids. He believed in following through on his word, doing his best, persevering when faced with challenges, and always behaving with good sportsmanship — values he carried into every aspect of his life and shared with his family.
Above all, Randy treasured his family and friends. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by his kids, grandkids, and buddies — a sharp wit and quick laugh, teasing and telling stories of the good old days, sharing meals, playing board and card games, and offering the wisdom of a life well-lived.
Randy is survived by his faithful wife of 43 years, Kathryn Corn Owens; daughter Nicole Noelle Owens Wolf and her husband, Garrett David Wolf, son Ryan Austin Owens and his wife Nadya Garcia-Batiz Owens, daughter Suzanna Mae Owens, and grandchildren, Kirra Marie Wolf, Kassidy Leila Wolf, Kyler David Wolf, Rocco Austin Luis Owens, Lara Cristina Owens, brother Robbie Owens, sister Deanna Scott; brother-in-law Wahid Kadir; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Kadir, and his parents, Ralph and Delores Owens, Sr.
The family would like to thank you for celebrating the life of Randy with them today, whether in person, online, or in spirit. Your support, prayers, and love have brought us great comfort. He meant so much to so many. Your loving presence is a testimony to how many lives he touched.
